Prison Consulting Experts
Both Sides Prison Consultants is a group of experienced consultants, attorneys and former inmates who offer professional advice and guidance to you and your family during this extremely challenging time. Rather than offer boilerplate information that anyone can find online, our programs are individually determined to help and guide prospective and current inmates through the criminal justice system, prison and parole.

Who Are We?
Joel Grossbarth, Founder of Both Sides Prison Consulting
Joel Grossbarth, Founder of Both Sides Prison Consultants, went from being a highly respected attorney, prosecutor, defense attorney and litigator to inmate number 14A1482.
Most prison consultants were either former attorneys or former inmates. Few have had the experience of seeing the system from “both sides.”
After being sentenced to an indeterminate sentence with a maximum term of 4 ½ years, Mr. Grossbarth served only 15 months after learning the system, the programs, and how to minimize the actual time spent behind bars. Why not let his experience help reduce or eliminate the time you will or may spend in prison and away from your loved ones and families.
Overview of Services
Both Sides Prison Consultants provides both State and Federal prison mitigation services.
At Both Sides Prison Consultants, we do everything in our power to minimize the amount of time someone must spend in prison or jail. Since January 12, 2005 when the United States Supreme Court ruled that the United States Sentencing Guidelines are advisory rather than mandatory, there are a multitude of personal and offense characteristics that can and must be considered by the courts in imposing a sentence. Likewise, most States give a sentencing judge vast discretion in imposing a prison sentence based on a variety of factors. We at Both Sides Prison Consultants investigate, research and analyze every possible available basis for a departure and alternative to incarceration including avoiding the imposition of so-called mandatory minimums.
